This app displays current location in both latitude and longitude as well as an address, if available. A short message can also be included. This information is useful in an emergency to communicate to either a friend or relative or a search and rescue team. A key feature is that GPS coordinates can be sent with the push of a button. This could be critical in an emergency situation where an error in identifying and relaying location could delay rescue. The sending does require cell service, which is not alway available, but frequently is. Knowing the current address is also helpful when exploring not only the backcountry, but in new cities or foreign countries.
